Beauty IS skin deep

Many people think that what they put onto their skin is not important. They figure, well it’s not like I’m eating it so it’s fine. Well, that is a misconception I would like to clear up right now. Anything you put onto your skin is directly absorbed into the blood stream. This idea is so important that I will repeat it: Anything you put onto your skin goes directly into the blood stream.

The skin is the largest organ in our bodies. Every day it absorbs the many unavoidable toxins in the air and water.

When you use lotion, perfume, or even toothpaste all the chemicals go right into your body.

Knowing this, don’t we need to know exactly what we’re ingesting and what these chemicals can do over long term use?

Why would we then knowingly expose ourselves to toxins in skin care products?

For years I lived in a cloud. I used pretty much any product I liked, that smelled good or seemed to work. In the back of my mind, I knew that all these unpronouncable  ingredients were probably not that good for me, but I ignored that doubt in my mind telling me to look into it. Only until I decided to open my mind and learn the facts did I make the change to my eating habits and in turn my beauty routine. I learned there is a huge connection between what we ingest and how we feel and we can control this. We need to become label readers so we can be aware of what we are ingesting. It is my pleasure to guide you on this journey of discovery.

I think that is a very strong claim to make. Where is the proof that what you put on your skin goes into your blood stream?

If it is true then yes absolutely people should be concerned. But this claim instills fear and more importantly there is no proof provided to back it up.

I hope readers will find out on their own if this absurd claim is true, rather then believing it as fact. It is dangerous to spread this kind of stuff.

I know it’s coming from a good place and it’s amazing that you care enough about people to educate them. I just hope you are doing your research before blogging.

    Kandice,

First of all, thank you for your comment. I appreciate your feedback. There is much research that has been done to prove that the skin absorbs anything put onto it. Smokers who are trying to quit use nicotine patches to get nicotine into their bloodstream without having to smoke. Some women use progesterone cream as opposed to pills for hormone deficiencies. The progesterone is absorbed right into the bloodstream. For further proof, please read the article below.
