Many ingredients in products are labeled as GRAS ("Generally Regarded as Safe") and are still extremely dangerous to use over time. For years, it was regarded as safe to smoke...so I would not go by that. I would definitely NOT recommend eating it by the spoonful...PG has been linked with cancer , developmental disorders, allergies, and irritation. Methyparaben also causes cancer and organ toxicity. Check out the Skin Deep website (<a href="http://" rel="nofollow">www.skindeep.com</a>) for further information about cosmetic ingredients. You can search for any ingredient and see the risks associated with that ingredient as well as see a number score the EWG (Environmental Working Group.) gives it.

Sorry, but what serious diseases are associated with propylene glycol? It has GRAS status. You can pretty much eat spoonfuls of it with no ill effects. The same goes for methylparaben, as far as I know.
