Skincare Review: Cosima Advanced Natural Skincare
Australia is known for so many unique and interesting things. Kangaroos, koalas (which are not really bears, you know), dingos, and Crocodile Dundee. Ok, maybe the last one is not so interesting….but you get my point. I happen to be a huge Dog Whisperer fan and I remember Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer went to Australia to film a series of shows there. It proves even Australia has misbehaving doggies! I’ve found some of the best things come out of Australia. Remember my review of Miessence? In case you don’t remember, Miessence originates from Australia and is ACO (Australian Certified Organic.) In my trials of the best organic body care products, here’s what I’ve found: some of the best and safest products originate from overseas, many from Australia! In today’s post, I am going to give you another skincare review of a little known Australian company called Cosima. Did it pass my strict guidelines for quality and safety? Read on, my dears…
Skincare Review: Cosima Advanced Natural Skincare
Sometimes companies make outlandish claims about their products, with nothing to back it up on. This cannot be said for Cosima. They’ve managed to produce natural and organic skincare with safe, quality ingredients that actually work. Here are some of the features of their line:
NO Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
NO Mineral Oils
NO Artificial Fragrances
NO Artificial Colours
NO Harmful Detergents
NO Animal Derivatives
NO Harmful Chemicals
NO Propylene Glycol
NOT Tested on Animals
Wonderful, right? So not only is this line ideal for people seeking healthier skin care, but it also works for people who are sensitive to allergens in cosmetics and those who favor vegan varieties. Their products include skin care, body care, and a new line called Flawless, which is full of anti aging ingredients and is a natural alternative to Botox! Sounds good to me, but unfortunately, I didn’t get to try the Flawless line (maybe next time- hint hint!) I did get to try out some of their skincare, which I was wholly impressed by. I’ll give you a few of my observations for each product I used.
Skincare Review: Gentle Cleansing Milk
I chose to try this product because I just love the idea of cleansing “milk,” probably because when I actually drink milk, my tummy protests too much so I figure, I can at least experience milk through my cleanser. The first thing I noticed about this (and the other products too) was it’s fresh, lovely scent. Sometimes cleansers can have strong scents which are not necessary for the function of the product and irritate you to no end. This scent is light and refreshing and actually compliments what it’s supposed to do: cleanse. My only issue with the cleanser is the bottle didn’t dispense the cleanser very well and I had to pump it repeatedly. Otherwise, it did a marvelous job of gently cleaning the face and removing dirt and makeup. My face did not have that dried out feeling either after washing. The ingredients are quite nourishing too. Here’s a few of them:
- Macadamia Oil
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Lime Essential Oil
- Rosemary Antioxidant
If you are seeking a non-irritating, gentle scrub, this one is for you! For me, the beads were a little too soft…I prefer a grittier scrub sometimes, but this one is perfect if you have sensitive skin or acne, because you never want to use a harsh scrub on skin types of that nature. Am exfoliant like this is perfect for daily use and should be used after cleansing to remove dead skin cells. Here’s a few of the ingredients:
- Mother of Pearl (that’s where the beads come from)
- Willow Bark extract
- Shea Butter
And now, my favorite of the trio:
I always wondered what’s the difference between a day cream and night cream. Did you as well? Now I know! Day creams should be lighter and provide a good base for your makeup and also include some spf (sun protection factor.) This moisturizer is light and absorbs instantly and smells fantastic…it doesn’t include spf, so you would need to put some on before you apply this. For some reason in the summer (don’t ask me why) my skin can get especially dry. Maybe because I sweat so much and wipe my face? Who knows? Anyway, this was a lovely summer moisturizer for me. It was a pleasure to spread it on after I spritzed my skin with my Infotone Face Mist in the morning. My skin felt soft and smooth and ready for makeup. I love the fact that it’s light and non-greasy and full of protective vitamins and minerals making it an effective anti aging day cream. Again, the trend continues with super beneficial ingredients such as:
- Aloe Vera Juice
- Coconut Oil
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Kakadu Plum -I’ve been reading about the amazing anti aging benefits of this lately! Future blog post, perhaps?
- Vitamin B5
- Rose Hip Oil
And this is a bit silly to mention, but anyway: it had a little plug you can put in the applicator bottle so that the moisturizer dispenser doesn’t get clogged. I know this seems like a little thing, but I appreciated this in the design of the bottle!
Skincare Review: My Overall Impression of Cosima Skincare
I was extremely pleased with this line. I already sort of knew it would be good, considering it came from the land down under. It seems the standards for safe cosmetics are much stronger overseas than here in the U.S. I especially love how Cosima blends their ingredients together in just the right formulas to benefit your skin to the fullest. You may say their products are pricey….I say you get what you pay for! And I’ve realized since going organic with my skincare that a little goes a long way. You shouldn’t be pumping out a ton of cleanser or moisturizer because all that does is waste money and product and too much of a good thing isn’t all that great either. So if you’ve decided it’s time to switch things up, which is always good to do sometimes, turn to the little skincare company down under…Cosima Advanced Natural Skincare. It’s a lovely way to get a piece of Australia into your every day life. And you don’t even have to meet any dingoes along the way!
Stay natural…stay beautiful…go green!
