Product Review: RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up

When you’re 18 years old, who needs concealer? That was me. Flash forward 18 more years and guess who adores her concealer? Me again….time and skin damage mean it’s time to break out the cover up! It can be an awesome tool to get that polished yet natural look. It can be challenging to find a good natural concealer…this is where today’s review comes in!

The phenomenal online organic beauty store Saffron Rouge recently sent me a few products for review, including RMS Beauty’s “Un” Cover- Up. I had been dying to try this and was so excited to get the opportunity to do so! In addition, I also got to try the RMS Beauty Cream Eye Shadow, but more about that later!

It’s pretty difficult to buy concealer online when you can’t try the color….but “Un” Cover-Up only comes in 4 shades, so it’s pretty fool proof. I have light skin, so my choice was #11. It turned out to be the perfect shade for me. I primarily use concealer for under my eyes, the corners of my eyes, and believe it or not, my eyelids. I know some people disagree with this and say, “You should be using an eye shadow primer!” I’m not the kind of person who has a different product for every little thing. If my concealer can double as a primer, why not? I really love how when I use the concealer on my eyelids, my eye shadow stays put all day.

“Un” Cover-Up comes in a little pot and is in cream form. A little goes a long way. I found this out one day when I put way too much on my finger. Oh, yeah, I also use my finger to put the concealer on…not a brush as many professionals do. It’s a personal choice. I would just rather use my finger than search for a brush at 6:30 am when I’m getting ready for work. This is my technique: I dot it below and in the corners of my eyes and blend gently with my finger. You always want to treat the eye area gently as this is a delicate area prone to wrinkles. After using concealer, I apply mineral powder. Many people apply liquid or cream foundation but I usually skip this for my everyday look. Again, a personal choice…

This concealer really does the job. If you suffer from dark under eye circles, it will give you the “rested look” you desire. If you have other skin imperfections like dark spots or blemishes, this will work great for you too. It can also be used as foundation, but I haven’t tried that one yet.

I know you’ve been waiting to hear about the ingredients. They are top notch and include nourishing emollients which will moisturize your skin. If you have normal skin, you don’t even need to moisturize before using.

Check out the ingredients:

*Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax), *Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol (non-GMO), *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, and may contain: [+/- Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Iron Oxides CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499]

If you’ve been looking for a natural concealer, I definitely think you should give RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up a try. You’ll love it!

[I've also tried a concealer by Vapour Organic Beauty and between the two, RMS wins hands down. I found the Vapour one to be a bit too oily.]

And before I forget, here’s my take on RMS Beauty’s Cream Eye Shadow. I got to try a gorgeous cream colored shade with subtle shimmer called Lunar. Honestly, when I first tried it I felt as though I was’t using it correctly because by 12:00, it had collected in the crease of my eyelids. I did contact RMS Beauty and was told their shadows weren’t crease proof. I thought, ok…I guess this sort of thing just comes with the territory of cream shadows. The next day I applied it again (because I am NOT one to give up on a product) and I made sure I rubbed it in well. It seemed to perform much better and I only had a little bit of creasing. The colors of their Cream Shadows are really so pretty, I’m willing to overlook a bit of creasing. Really, it only takes a second to rub back in. This formula would be great for people with dryer eyelids (do people have dry eyelids??)

Overall, I did like the Cream Shadow and the beautiful color. I’ve taken to using it on days when I am in too much of a hurry to use my powdered mineral shadows. When you use an eyeliner pencil over it, it glides on nicely.

So what are my final impressions of RMS Beauty? They’re a great natural company who will actually answer your question personally. I also love the performance of their products while using nontoxic ingredients. They make more products which I am excited to try as well, such as Living Luminzer (which I did receive a sample of but have not used yet), Raw Coconut Cream, and Lip2Cheek.

If you get a chance, take a browse on Saffron Rouge and have a look at RMS Beauty. You won’t be disappointed!

Stay natural…stay beautiful…go green!

I’ve tried the un-cover up a few days ago and sort of ‘liked’ it but not sure whether it’s suitable for the shade of my dark circles.

But the lip2cheek is really, really good! It gives a very natural, health glow on my cheeks! :) I love it!
