Hair Care Review: Neuma Shampoo, Conditioner, and Masque

nontoxic hair products

On my recent giveaway, one of the requirements for entry was to leave a comment on what you’d like me to cover here on Toxic Beauty Blog. Well, one of them was more reviews of natural shampoos and today I am here to deliver on that request!

I’m always looking for the next best natural shampoo and conditioner and when I got the chance to check out Neuma I was super excited!

I had actually heard of them a few months prior when I asked my faithful Facebook friends for a hair mousse recommendation. When I realized the brand a friend had recommended was Neuma, I was even more eager to try the shampoo and conditioner!

nontoxic shampooI tried three products from Neuma:

Neuma Moisture Shampoo

Neuma Moisture Conditioner

Neuma Moisture Intensive Masque

First off, here are a few of my overall impressions of the line:

Fabulous scent! I was very impressed by the fresh, almost chocolatey scent of the products. It really leaves your hair smelling fresh and clean. The shampoo is sulfate-free, yet lathers so richly…which is something I miss from my natural shampoo. As soon as you rinse your hair, it feels soft and silky, even before you condition. Love, love, love, this shampoo!

As for the conditioner, it’s pretty good too. I usually shampoo my hair as soon as I get into the shower. This way, I’m able to let the conditioner “sit” in my hair throughout my shower for extra conditioning. I also comb it through right before I rinse. My hair tends to get very tangly if I don’t do this. The conditioner is fabulous and leaves your hair very soft, smooth, and manageable. It contains a proprietary blend of plant extracts and essential oils which help maintain the color of your hair if it’s color treated. The end result is strong, shiny hair. I can vouch for that!

nontoxic hair masqueFor added moisture, I used the Intensive Masque. It’s a thick, hydrating treatment you use in place of conditioner. It’s left on for 2-3 minutes, but I left it longer. My hair was soft, smooth, and shiny after this nourishing treatment.

I’ve found a new favorite brand and it’s Neuma! I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this again.

A while back I also got to try the hair mousse and it was lovely too! It didn’t make my hair too stuff and provided lots of body.

Here’s a bit more about the brand, in case you were wondering- straight from Neuma themselves:

“NEUMA uses only renewable, beneficial plant-based ingredients – leaving you, and your hair, looking and feeling more beautiful. Our collection of professional performance beauty products contain ingredients which above all, do no harm – because like you, we care for earth and hair.

FREE OF synthetic fragrance, sulfates, parabens, 1,4-dioxane, phthalates, glutens, neurotoxins, aluminum compounds, glycols, formaldehyde donors, ureas, carcinogens, environmental pollutants – a truly sustainable brand.”

A HUGE thing for me, besides being synthetic free is that Nemua is gluten free.

Since I discovered my gluten sensitivity last year, I have to be very careful with the cosmetics and hair products I use. Neuma earns an A+ with my requirements for safe products!

Neuma can be purchased on the site Hair Care USA.

Now it’s your turn!

Does Neuma intrigue you? Are you a fan? What are your favorite natural and organic shampoo brands? What brands do you want to see reviews for?

Stay natural…stay beautiful…go green!

OK it’s really good to discover another natural shampoo. I think I am even more concerned about the shampoo ingredients than I am for other products! My scalp is uber-sensitive!

I currently use Aubrey Organics products. I LOVE them but I may try this one. Thanks for reviewing.

by the way, did you see my post about the Miracle Oil launched by Optimum Salon Hair Care? Giiiiiirl you have to read it. I was appalled…6 in 1 oil my a*s!

No, I didn’t see your review, Michelle, but I will sure to check it out!

Awesome! I’ll have to check this brand out. I am currently using the natural store brand from Sunflower Market, but sadly my Sunflower Market got bought out by Sprouts so they won’t be carrying Sunflower brands anymore.

    Hi Toxic Beauty Followers!
First a disclaimer: I am an educator for a natural skin care line called ACURE. Second, we also have amazing shampoos that are very clean, affordable and effective! So if you’re looking for natural haircare, ours is a geat alternative too.
Not to take thunder away from Robin’s review of Neuma, but I always like to share knowledge and alternatives!

  • Phyrra

I really love the Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco haircare line. However, the Neuma hair mask sounds wonderful!

    Hi Shellie,

No problem at all…I did ask for other natural shampoo recommendations, after all! I’d LOVE to do a review of your hair products…check out my review guidelines and if you think we’d be a good fit, send me an email!

  • Natural Organics

    Hi Phyrra,

Thanks for the tip! Is the brand you speak of the same as the Morocco Method?

  • Rian

I actually came across this product at the beauty salon I have had my hair cut at for over 10 years. I haven’t needed to purchase any yet but I did love the product when they used it to clean my hair. I currently use Organic Excellence and Juice Organics and like them both but always on the look out for great products that help with frizz and tangles, considering I have very long naturally curly hair.

  • Natural Organics

Thanks for chiming in, Rian! I also like to change up my shampoos every once in a while. I want to try the Organic Excellence too sometime soon.
