Mercola Healthy Skin Natural Sunscreen

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying your summer…I know I am! I recently blogged about a teriffic sunscreen, Badger, but now I have another one to share with you! I am obsessed with finding effective natural sunscreen and although I love Badger, I was still seeking something that was a little more spreadable. So I purchased one made by one of the nation’s leading natural health experts, Dr. Joseph Mercola. Mercola Healthy Skin Natural Sunscreen caught my eye for a few reasons. First of all, I got 10% off as a little birthday gift from Mercola.com (they do know how to treat their subscribers!)   After receiving Dr. Mercola’s wonderfully informative health newsletters, I knew I could trust his products to be as natural as possbile. It is SPF 30, water resistant, eco-friendly, and biodegradable. Did you know most sunscreens harm the environment with it’s chemical ingredients? I did not know that until recently so I was pleased that Mercola met these standards. This sunscreen protects with titanium and zinc oxide as the main ingredients. The other ingredients include sunflower oil, green tea extract, shea butter, and eucalyptus oil to name a few. It has a light, delicate, scent, and is not thick! (That can be a problem in a lot of other natural sunscreens….the zinc oxide makes them horribly thick.) It goes on smoothly and sinks into skin quickly, providing excellent protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays.

I was very impressed with this sunscreen. After my day at the beach (I was there for three hours, so I did reapply once) I was slightly tanned with no burn at all! Now that is a great, natural sunscreen that does what it promises to. I purchased the 8 oz. (large bottle) and it even came with a mini bottle to refill for travel. It sells for $15.97 (one bottle will last you for quite a while!) What a deal!

It’s on sale for 50% off today so it’s a great time to try this fantastic product. Simply click the above link to go to the site. If you try Mercola’s amazing sunscreen, please drop me a line and let me know if you love it as much as I do! Stay natural, stay beautiful…Robin

Smells very natural. Not like the chemical smell of Coppertone

  • Ginger

I’d love to try this! The green tea sounds so refreshing. Is it OK to put it on your hair too? I sometimes do that when I go swimming.

  • Camille

It’s not as sticky as other sunscreens, probably because of the natural ingredients, which will also wash off easier. I can really appreciate that because I live in a humid climate.

When I went to Palau, I knew that I needed to bring sunscreen with me since I’d be spending a lot of time at the beach. I have been using Mercola’s Natural Sunscreen for quite sometime now, and I must say, it works like a charm. I also noticed that, although common advice for wearing sunscreens indicate the necessity of a reapplication about 30 minutes after sun exposure starts, I didnt have to reapply for about 2-3 hours after my first application, and my skin didn’t get burns. Simply fantastic!

Another good thing is that it’s all natural so it’s safe for your skin and the environment. I strongly urge everyone to try this product out and experience the great quality for yourselves.

    Hey Ginger!

I don’t see why not. My scalp tends to burn too so I do the same thing!

The sunblock looks very healthy. I don’t understand why doesn’t Dr. Mercola reformulate it without the titanium dioxide? I mean wouldn’t it be as effective?
More information on titanium dioxide as UV absorber. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanium_dioxide#Sunscreen_and_UV_Absorber

I’ve tried mainstream sunscreens and tan lines occurred as chemical sunscreens are not effective UVA blockers. They only block the vitamin D producing UVB. It would be interesting to know if the Mercola sunscreen prevents tanning. Some reviews claim so. I’ll try this this spring. It would be a second measure after broad hats, sunglasses, and long sleeved clothing.

If they are effective, I would use it frequently after brief midday tanning which provides the highest UVB to UBA ratio. From experience, you probably notice that never exposed skin patches showed fewer signs of aging.

I tried this recently, and it’s not bad at all. The eucalyptus also seems to do a good job keeping away the mosquitoes, too :)
