Skincare Review and Giveaway: Real Purity Dragonfruit Creme {CLOSED}

skincare review and giveaway

Just what is this weird looking thing? Read on if you’re intrigued…

Last year, I happened to get HBO free for 3 months and one day I was searching through the on demand shows when I came upon Game of Thrones. I had heard of this show before, but was never really interested in this type of genre. It kind of reminded me of Lord of the Rings, which I wasn’t too thrilled about either until we had a Lord of the Rings marathon in my house and I realized it was good! So I decided to partake, since they had the first 2 seasons available to watch. After one episode, I was hooked. Excellent acting, writing, and plots kept me coming back for more. I think I watched both seasons in 2 weeks. It was that good!

One of the story lines involves theTargaryns, known as the family line with the “blood of the dragon.” I’m not going to ruin the Season 2 finale for you now (just in case you hadn’t seen it) but it’s definitely not to be missed!

So why am I talking about Game of Thrones here today?

Because I have something else incredible to share with you which happens to relate to dragons….or dragonfruit to be more precise.

Have you ever heard of dragonfruit?

It’s one of those exotic fruits originating from Asia and is actually part of the cactus family. If you’ve ever seen one, you’ve probably taken notice. It’s football shaped with curly green leaves and rich pink skin. When you cut it open, you see tender white flesh filled with black seeds. I’ve actually never tried one before, but now my curiosity is peaked!

There’s tons of health benefits from eating dragonfruit, such as:

  • aids with elimination due to the high fiber content
  • is low cholesterol
  • rich in Vitamin C, B Vitamins, minerals, and iron
  • loaded with hytoalbumins, an antioxidant which help prevent the formation of cancer cells

I know this isn’t necessarily a nutrition blog and you might be wondering….why is she telling us about the benefits of fruit?

It’s because one company has realized just how nutritive dragonfruit is and developed an extraordinary antiaging creme.

Real Purity’s Dragonfruit Creme is a unique blend of superior quality ingredients which work together to combat the signs of aging. It actually inhibits lines and wrinkles from appearing and reduces their appearance. Dragonfruit also naturally contains it own UV filter which makes it an excellent addition to any skin cream. The antioxidants in the dragonfruit work to protect the skin against free radicals which cause DNA damage and collagen break down. The creme also contains aloe vera, grapeseed oil, jojoba, sheer butter, and mango butter which are all very moisturizing and nutritive for the skin.

I love how the bottle is the same colors as a real dragonfruit!

*** One thing which did concern me was that it also contained lonicera japonica flower extract. In English that means honeysuckle flower extract. If you’re into natural cosmetics, you probably know about the bad rap HFE has received over the past few years. It’s been thought to be a natural paraben or even a form of salicylic acid. I asked Real Purity about why this ingredient was included because I know they’re dedicated to using only the highest quality natural ingredients in their cosmetics. I was told they use only the purest form of JHE and was sent extensive data on the ingredient. To summarize a bit here is what their chemist said:

  • To say JHE is salicylic acid is oversimplifying
  • JHE is NOT created using nanotechnology
  • JHE is not created using unnatural molecules
  • JHE does not contain Butylene Glycol

Basically, the chemist debunked most of the myths I held about JHE and I felt very comfortable using the Creme.

So now that the science is over, here are my thoughts and experiences when I used the Dragonfruit Creme. For one, sometimes when I get a creme to test, I use some or half the bottle, then forget about it. Not this time. I used the whole 1 oz bottle to it’s last drop. The dispenser is quite unique and I really liked it. All you do to dispense is press on the top. It dispenses exactly the amount you need.

I used it at night after cleansing, which is recommended. The scent is really lovely and fruity. It sinks right into the skin and leaves your face feeling very moisturized. The polysaccharides (or fats due to the large seed content) in the dragonfruit may give your skin a tightening sensation…I experienced this only slightly. If you have sagging skin or excess lines and wrinkles, this would be a very good product for you. I have pretty smooth skin so the main effect I noticed was a brighter, more vibrant complexion. With nightly use, it lasted 2 months. It retails for $60 a bottle- seems pricey I know, but when you sign up for their newsletter, you get a $5 off coupon code!  Go to Real Purity right now if you can’t wait to try the Dragonfruit Creme!

If you’re the type who likes to try before you buy, you have 2 options. You can order a sample from Real Purity OR you can just win a full sized bottle here!

Hi Robin! Is there any way you can get the information that was provided to Real Purity about the JHE? My articles about JHE aren’t based on rumor, but information directly from the manufacturer. If they have removed the butylene glycol, salicylic acid, etc, from the extract, I would like to know so I can update my article and have the most updated and accurate information published. :)
