Keeki Pure and Simple Review and Giveaway
By Natural OrganicsPretty soon in my household, we’re going to be undertaking a big project: painting! We’re going to be paining 5 different rooms in the house to give it a fresh, new look. Of course, the paint will be free of VOC’s and all the other nasty paint stuff. This led me to the thought about how women use paint to make themselves look fresh. I speak of painting our nails. I remember as early as age 4, I used to ask my mom to polish my nails. It was always a fun experience. Even now, I still love the polished nails look.
The Evolution of Nontoxic Nail Polish
Till now, I haven’t found a completely 100% safe, organic nail color. I was using “big-3” free polish: free of formaldehyde, toulene, and dbp. Want to know more about these toxic ingredients? Click here. I figured it was better than using the more toxic polish…it still bothered me that it contained FD&C dyes . Now….I’ve experienced an epiphany…yup, had my “aha” moment….in my discovery of Keeki pure & simple. Keeki pure & simple is a USDA certified organic, eco-friendly nail care line. This nontoxic nail polish comes in 9 water based shades. When I gave myself a manicure, I was pleasantly surprised to find there was no stinky smell, like other nail polishes! I painted my fingernails and toenails a hot color, Raspberry Sorbet. The picture on their web site doesn’t do this color justice! In the sun, it looks even brighter and more vibrant. They also sent me a gorgeous green color, Sour Apple Slushie, which is next on my nail agenda.
Silly Wabbit, Keeki’s For Kids!
This polish was designed for kids, but aren’t we all just big kids anyway? It feels wonderful to know there is a safer alternative for women and little girls who have to be like their moms and have pretty nails. In fact, due to such high demand from women, Keeki is soon launching a line for older kids (us!) Keeki also makes a nontoxic polish remover (again no nasty smell) and recently introduced a glow in the dark polish (just in time for Halloween!) They’re priced at $9.25 a bottle….sound steep to you? Remember you get what you pay for and in Keeki nail polish, you’re getting a product with ingredients from the earth and nothing bad for you. I also received the organic lip balm in Orange Creamsicle… what a dreamy experience for my lips!
This was my first time using a water based polish so I found out a few things. Here are some tips to keep in mind when using such polish:
Make sure to use 3 (maybe even 4) thin coats.
You must avoid contact with water for at least 20 minutes after polishing. (I didn’t do this and my fingernails began chipping 1 day after…my fault!)
When washing dishes, wear gloves (the water may cause the polish to chip as well). Better yet, get someone else to do the dishes!
The polish on my toes still looks great after a few days….so if you remember these tips, your “mani-pedi” is sure to last and look great.
Another thing I really like about Keeki has nothing to do with the polish itself. Their logo! It’s an adorable cartoon dog named (aptly) Keeki! Keeki is said to “wag her tail” when she sees nails painted with her nail polish….how cute is that? Keeki pure & simple polish holds true to their motto: “Love yourself, Love the planet.”
You have two options if you’d like to try this earth-friendly polish for yourself.
