How to Get Rid of Acne at Home
Did you know acne breakouts affect some 54 percent of women and 40 percent of men over age 25?
[Breakouts are not just for the tweens and teens!]
I have experienced the agony of acne firsthand. As a teen, I dealt with acne and still had occasional breakouts well into my 30s. I had very oily skin and would develop breakouts constantly.
It never occurred to me my diet was contributing to the problem.
Back then, I treated it with chemical medicines which really did more harm than good. I used everything including benzyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and medicated astringents. I even tried expensive pills and nothing ever worked.
I never thought I had to treat my acne holistically and that my diet was affecting my skin.
Holistic means treating the whole body as opposed to just the symptoms. I never realized this when I was younger. I was just trying to cover up the problem on the surface without determining what was causing it.
Most problems manifesting outside the body originate from an imbalance within the body. Not until I realized this, and began to look for the causes of my acne was I able to break myself free from this embarrassing problem.
I discovered an easy and inexpensive acne at home treatment and was able to become more educated about where my pimples were coming from.
Can You Get Rid of Acne at Home?
It can be easy and affordable to get rid of acne at home. There’s no need to see a dermatologist every week and shell out big bucks for toxic lotions and creams.
One of the first areas you need to look at for your acne at home treatment is diet.
What you eat affects not only your inside but your outside as well. The old adage, “You are what you eat,” couldn’t be more true.
The biggest enemy of clear skin is sugar. Sugar affects your body internally by spiking your insulin and can cause weight gain not to mention skin ailments. It also makes acne eruptions worse. So if you are seeking to free yourself of acne, cut out the excess sugar. That means not only white sugar that’s added to sweets, but also refined carbohydrates, such as breads and pastas, which convert to sugar within the body. Also, be wary of sugar added to juice and soft drinks.
I’ve found solace in using stevia, a natural herb 100 times sweeter than sugar but doesn’t spike insulin levels so… I don’t miss sugar at all!
Another dietary product to steer of if you’re trying to cure your acne is milk and dairy products.
Milk is a substance which promotes mucus production in the body. Ever notice how some people drink milk and immediately start coughing afterward? That person may be more dairy sensitive than others, but if you suffer from pimples you should not drink milk.
Pimples occur because the pores become inflamed with mucus….get the connection? In addition, milk produced today is loaded with hormones given to cows to increase milk production. These synthetic hormones can contribute to acne production. Cut out the milk and dairy and you should see the acne dissipate.
What Foods Help to Promote Clear Skin?
Of course, the best foods to eat are the ones which provide you with the vitamins and minerals your skin needs to flourish. Here are some healthy foods for clear skin:
Green vegetables – Contain nutrients and fiber which fight inflammation
Fish – Loaded with healthy fats which also combat inflammation
Nuts and Seeds- Rich in anti-oxidants
Purple and Deep Red Fruits and Vegetables- Anti-oxidant powerhouses

By changing your diet with these tips, you will start seeing a difference in your skin. Give it a little time and don’t give up. You’ll have better looking skin, more energy, and feel better than you’ve felt in years. This is just one step you can take to get rid of acne at home.
