What’s the Best Deodorant for Women?

By

deodorant for women

One of the questions I get most from readers is, “What’s the best natural deodorant for women?” Many people think natural or organic deodorant don’t work- that because they lack chemical ingredients, they simply don’t do the job. Believing this, they say, “Oh, well.” and go back to using their toxic deodorants…claiming their desire to stay dry and odor-free is more important than their desire to use a safer deodorant.

I disagree with this way of thinking…no way in hell would you have caught me going back to Dove or Secret if Natural Brand A didn’t work…I’d keep trying until I found a brand that worked with my body chemistry.

It’s not cheap, either, playing trial and error with natural deodorants. They usually cost more than the drugstore brands. To me though, it’s worth it. Commercial deodorants carry too much risk and if you’re trying to go more natural with your personal care products, deodorant is the first thing you should switch over.

But with all the different brands out there carrying more expensive price tags, how do you know which one is best for you?

Before I reveal to you my deodorant superhero, I want to tell you a story. It’s not a pretty story and is a bit embarrassing too, but I am here to educate, so if I must embarrass myself, so be it.

I was 2 years into being the editor-in-chief of Toxic Beauty Blog and being such, I was privy to trying all sorts of natural cosmetics and providing reviews. One of the products I always was first in line to test was deodorant. I’m one of the people who thought finding an effective natural deodorant was impossible.

I was sent a natural deodorant with fantastic ingredients: Organic arrowroot powder, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic lemon essential oil, organic clove essential oil. Not only did it have wonderful ingredients, but was also 100% USDA certified organic! I thought I hit the jackpot and was excited to test it out.

I used it for about a week and noticed it wasn’t exactly meeting my expectations. One day my significant other and I went to buy a desk. We had to rent a truck to bring it back to our house. Oh yes, let me also tell you I live in a very hot and humid climate, which really puts your deodorant to work. Back to the story, we were driving in a U-haul truck when my boyfriend said, “What’s that smell?

Horrifyingly, that smell was me. Yes, I will admit my funk. The deodorant did ok for the first few days, then completely quit on me. The B.O. monster had emerged. What a horrifying moment to have your boyfriend point out that you stink. I take pride in always smelling good! Which deodorant quit on me? It was Bubble and Bee’s Pit Putty….I just became their affiliate and I’m not trying to talk bad about them because I absolutely adore their other bath and body products, but their formula simply didn’t work with my body chemistry. It might not do the same for you and be the best deodorant you ever tried.

When I told Stephanie Greenwood, the B&B owner about my experience, she immediately sent me a different formula. It was also Pit Putty but in Spearmint and Tea Tree. I did better with this, but in the long run, it still didn’t do the job for me. By the way, a really good thing about Bubble and Bee is they have a deodorant chart so you can figure out which formula is right for you and if you buy one and it doesn’t work, they will provide you another or another or another….you get the picture. How many companies will do this for you, no questions asked? It’s rare. Read more about their unprecedented Satisfaction Guarantee:

“If the first deodorant you try from us doesn’t work for you, we’re happy to help you find a second, or even third one that does. Send us an e-mail to stephanie@bubbleandbee.com and tell us your issue. We have found that if one deodorant doesn’t work for you, another one will. So, the first thing we do is send you an alternate combination of bacteria-fighting essential oils or method of delivery (spray vs. stick) of your choice. All you pay is the shipping (which we don’t upcharge). If the replacement product doesn’t work for you, we repeat the process until you’re absolutely thrilled. We cannot offer a money-back return of an opened personal care item like deodorant. We will, however, send you a replacement to try. If you ordered more than one deodorant, we will accept any unopened / undamaged items and give you a refund excluding any shipping charges associated with the return.”

Amazing, huh?

Anyway, back to my story…after the Pit Putty debacle, I ended up going back to a deodorant I had found a few years back when I was browsing one of my favorite sites for organic and natural personal care products and cosmetics, Pure Complexions. It’s….Real Purity!

Those of you who’ve been reading this blog for a while know how passionate I am about Real Purity products. I’ve actually spoken with a relative of the founder and know how dedicated they are to providing safe products. Their deodorant comes in a roller bottle and is called Holisitc Deodorant.

Deodorant for women

Me and my favorite deodorant- Real Purity Holistic Formula!

What does holistic mean?

“RP deo” as I affectionately call it, is not only a product designed to keep you dry and non-odorous. It’s a product designed for your total body well-being. Using natural minerals and herbs, it actually allows your skin to “breathe” as it was meant to. The body sweats as a means of detoxification and if we load all these manufactured chemicals on our skin, it causes our bodies to become toxic.

“Any attempt to artificially prevent perspiration is very unhealthy because perspiration is the Maker’s method of safely cooling the body while excreting numerous toxins. Suppressing the natural sweat response in your underarms or other areas of the body blocks the body’s cleansing process and the natural flow of the lymphatic system. Interference in normal lymphatic function may increase the risk for breast cancer.”

This quote is from the book The Maker’s Diet, by Jordan S. Rubin, whose incredible self-healing led him to create the Garden of Life nutritional supplement company. I’m in the middle of this book now and it’s quite incredible! What he states has been proven by many other researchers. In addition, most deodorants and antiperspirants contain toxic chemicals linked to Alzhemier’s Disease, liver disease, and tumors.

What I really love about RP deo is that it fights odor while providing real body benefits at the same time. I can honestly say when I use this deodorant and wear a sleeveless shirt, I am not afraid to “Raise my hand!”

I just cannot say enough good things about this deodorant. For now, it only comes in a roll on, but RP has told me they currently have a deodorant stick and spray in the works. I can’t wait!

What about cost, you say?

Yes, it does cost $10 a bottle, but it’s so worth it. Pay a little more for your deodorant now and lower your risk of developing breast cancer or Alzheimer’s Disease from the toxic ingredients in regular deodorants. Like I always say, pay now or pay later.

The Bottom Line

I would definitely have to say the best natural deodorant for women (and men, for that matter, my boyfriend uses it too!) is Holistic Deodorant by Real Purity. I want to be completely honest here: if you purchase this product through my link, I will get a (small) commission. I make a whopping 10% off each order…this proves that my main goal is to help you find a safer deodorant alternative so you can reduce your and your family’s risk of horrible diseases down the road. I don’t think I’ll get rich off of selling a few deodorants, but if I help people along the way, the bit that I do make will be even sweeter.

Now I want to hear from you!

Are you a Real Purity deodorant fan, if not, are you ready to try the best and toss the rest?

What deodorants have you had success with?

And please, please share your embarrassing deodorant fail moments too, so I don’t feel so bad about mine. :)

    How timely!

I’m just about a week into try out an all-natural deodorant that. . .I made myself. Not even joking.

I had tried a few different Tom’s that didn’t do the trick, some of those liquid salt-based ones which worked pretty well but turned my pits into a Sahara desert, and pretty much every “natural-ish” deodorant you can find at mainstream grocery stores or supermarkets, or Sprouts.

It took a lot of working up to it, but I finally tried Crunchy Betty’s (crunchybetty.com) recipe for homemade deodorant. It works better than anything else I’ve ever tried, bar none. The only part I don’t really like is that it melts and gets drippy due to the high coconut oil content, and doesn’t really control moisture. (might be able to change the proportions to help that though.)

Cool stuff! Experimenting with your deodorant takes courage.

  2. The best natural deodorant I have ever found and use as my only form of deodorant is lemon. I live in Queensland Australia, so any deodorant is going to have to work hard. I drink lemon juice and water each morning then I apply the squeezed left over portions of lemon to my underarms (rub it over the area) and also underneath my breasts. The lemon juice kills the bacteria that produces the underarm odour and keeps me dry for well over 24 hours. It absolutely works.

  3. Hi Sonja! Wow ,that is absolutely amazing. Lemon has so many uses, it’s unbelievable. I was wondering though, if the lemon isn’t too acidic for direct contact to the skin on a daily basis? Thanks for sharing your DIY deodorant!

  4. Hi Marissa,

Thanks for your feedback! I think most of us green girls are trying a new deodorant at one time or another until we hit the jackpot and find one that’s both safe and works! I just got lucky in finding such a gem as Real Purity! I could have probably written about 5 more pages about the other deodorants I have tried! I’ve also experimented with my own homemade deals, including baking soda by itself (my pits were dry as a bone and odor free, but I started reacting to the baking soda after a week) and another concoction that worked for a while then quit. I’ve also tried Aubrey Organics and Miessence with poor results. In fact, I develpoed a horrible rash and welts with the Miessence. I will have to check out Crunchy Betty’s recipe but I will never leave behind my Real Purity. :)

Hi! :) I use several products. I find that on the hottest days in FL if I use plain old GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract.) IT WORKS! It’s anti bacterial and anti fungal and it keeps me dry for hours and hours. On other days I may use Clean Well All natural hand sanitizer! Yes, hand sanitizer. It’s gentle and it has all natural essential oils with the *active ingredient of Thymus vulgaris. It has other oils in there too. I sometimes use food grade peroxide that’s watered down to the proper % with distilled water when I have it made up already. The peroxide doesn’t last as long on the hottest days, but it does kill any bacteria on the spot! No bacteria equals no odor. I haven’t used a drug store bought deodorant in over 17 years. I would never put that toxic stuff near my armpits where nearby lymph glands reside. Never. These natural products have worked fine for me for many years. :) Hope this gave you some other ideas. :)

    Hi There

What works for me (though very expensive) is Dr. Hauschka’s deodorant. It smells delightful and works absolutely great.

You are right about many healthy brands not working on everyone.

I’m going to do the lemon under the pits today to see if it does the trick for me!! I’ll let you know ; * ))

    Thanks Much
    Dorine

  7. Hi Joan,

Thanks so much for leaving this comment here! It’s going to help so many people! I am in Florida too and have heard of the anti-bacterial properties of grapefruit seed extract. In fact, it’s one of the main ingredients in Real Purity’s holistic formula! Again, thanks for your support. :)

  8. Rian says:

I got lucky, when I started this whole lifestyle change last year my sister and cousin were already working on it and found a deo they both loved. It is Bubble and Bee but it is their new pit putty cream. I love the smell and it is so easy to use. Haven’t gone though a summer with it yet but so far it works great for me, though I’m not a high bo/sweatty person.

  9. Hi Rian,

Wow that’s awesome that others did the legwork for you! I will have to try the cream…I had tried the deo sticks with no success, but I am always willing to try some more. it’s good to switch up your products every once and a while so your body doesn’t get “used to” them. Thanks for commenting!

    -Robin

  10. I use Miessence Tahitian Breeze roll-on. I was never a fan of roll ons, but this one really works. It’s frequently written about as being one of the few truly all natural deodorants that really works. Let me know if you’d ever like to review it.

I also just published an article today about making your own deodorant. I include the recipe that Marissa mentions above from Crunchy Betty and one from Jennifer Taggart, aka The Smart Mama. I haven’t tried them yet myself, but think I will very soon. You can read it here: http://www.greenwala.com/profiles/danika-carter-your-organic-life/blog/20282-2-DIY-Deodorant-Recipes

  11. Hi Danika,

Thanks for chiming in! I actually did try the Miessence Tahitian Breeze and had an unfortunate reaction consisting of a rash and ugly red bumps so I think I was sensitive to some essential oil or ingredient in it, but thanks for the offer! I just read your post and I will definitely have to try Crunchy Betty’s recipe…I’ve used plain baking soda before and although I love how it works, it also leaves my underarms irritated. I guess I just have over-sensitive skin, but I also know that I have a high perspiration rate and odor in the humid, hot climate I live in, so I need something that really keeps the odor at bay!

I have tried a bah-jillion natural deodorants to no avail. Toms, Naturally Fresh, even Herban Cowboy (yes, really)… All of them would work a day, maybe a week and then wimp out. I live in Louisiana, so I can’t have a wimpy deo!!! In the process of all my trials, I bought deos for my preteen daughter, who suddenly needed it too! No way was I going to toxify her little body with chemical garbage! She would announce to me when a particular deodorant had stopped working for her and we would try something new. Then one day during church she announced that MY deodorant had stopped working. I was mortified. I made my own deodorant after that, but like other commenters found its high coconut oil content can’t survive my warmer bathroom cabinet. It only sorta works, anyway. I am so pumped about trying the RP deo AND the Bubble and Bee! Thanks, Robin, for sharing with us!!!

  15. Hi Lori,

Thanks for sharing your deodorant trials and tribulations! I know how mortifying it can be when someone else tells you your deo stopped working! I have a very strong body chemistry, so if the Real Purity works on me, it should work on you too! Also, you make a great point about how pre-teens who are beginning to use deo need to use a natural brand. Toxic chemicals have no business being inside a young person, let alone us! The best thing about RP is the synergistic blend of ingredients. Also, I neglected to mention in the post that I never promote anything I don’t use and believe in myself…and Real Purity really is a gem..I am almost out of my bottle so time to reorder soon!

  16. Hi G.,

Yup, my friend also used Tom’s and it crapped out after a while…and Jason is known for being an organic faker brand, as I reported in my free guide Label Lies: Secrets of Organic Cosmetics. I hope you give Real Purity a try because it may be the last natural deodorant you ever have to try!

  17. Voce says:

I must’ve tried half a dozen natural brands before finding one that worked. My criteria is that it must last ALL DAY, unless I’m sweating outdoors for an extended time. It’s a roll-on called Herbal Magic, by a company called Home Health. I get it at Vitacost online. No fancy packaging, & it’s not expensive. I use unscented, but have also tried the Jasmine one & the herbal one. All work well. I notice it has many of the same ingredients as the one you’re featuring today. Here’s what’s in mine: Algae extract, Aloe Vera Gel, Deionized Water, Witch Hazel, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Herbal Extracts of (Fennel, Hops, Chamomile, Balm Mint, Mistletoe and Yarrow), Grapefruit Seed Extract.

Two different ones from Aubrey Organics didn’t work for me. Tom’s was so oily that it gave me a sebaceous cyst in my armpit!

I’m in Louisiana, too, so during the hot months, sometimes I add Honeybee Gardens deodorant powder on top of the roll-on (after it’s completely dry, of course.) That keeps me a bit drier all day, but it’s not needed for odor.

Btw, I love your blog. :-)

  18. Hi Voce,
So nice to hear from you and thanks for sharing your tale of deodorant trials! Yes, the ingredients to the Home Health deo sound similar to Real Purity’s with the exception of the baking soda. Aubrey didn’t work for me either…but I still love their other products. I’ll have to try the Honeybee Gardens powder because I also use powder and my favorite one so far is made by a wonderful lady out of Cali- Amber’s Organics. It’s made with rose petals and smells divine! I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog and please comment again soon. I love to hear from you guys (gals!)

  19. Hi Robin,
I was so happy to get this email ( and entertained! ) You must be reading my mind! I found a few deodorants at Whole Foods and they seemed to work at first but not for long. I was dreading going back there and pouring over the countless deodorants until I found the scent I liked, paid the big $ and went home to try. Only to be disappointed and have to take the time to return. I just ordered through Toxic Beauty the RP deodorant! Wish me luck on the body chemistry thing!

  22. Hi Debbie,

Also, for others posting about Grapefruit Seed Extract, do keep it mind that it is not a natural ingredient, but a synthetic chemical with some possible side effects: http://chemicaloftheday.squarespace.com/most-controversial/2010/1/27/the-truth-about-grapefruit-seed-extract.html

    Hi,
I have tried real puritys deodorant roll on about a year ago.
It was really really good, left me dry. Smelt fresh and my boyfriend stole it
To it was that good ….. My only quibble was the postage.
Im happy to pay $10 for a natural product that works, but
When you order 2 rollons and the postage is $24 then $22 per roll on
    Seems very pricey.
It was a year ago and maybe since then they have addressed
The expensive overseas postage rates. I live in western australia.
That has put me back on the hunt and ill be honest ive gone back to a
Chemical brand meantime. Im watching their website for when they offer free overseas postage.. :)

  25. Hi! Wow, I’m sorry you have to pay so much postage and VERY sorry to hear you went back to a chemical brand. :(
Yes, my boyfriend steals my Real Purity deo too! It’s so awesome how it works on women and men. I’m sure they’re not making any extra profit off the postage…it’s just you’re pretty far! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that there will be shipping specials!

  26. Hi, Stephanie! I sure will shoot you an email…I have been hearing amazing things about the creams! And thank you so much for posting about grapefruit seed extract- you are just a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate your input.

  27. I too have been asked about the heftier price tag for natural and organic deodorants (Dr. Hauschka’s run about $9ish). But at the end of the day, if it works as well or better and it does not pollute your body with chemicals (or our Earth for that matter), I’m not sure the money argument is good enough. You can always wait for these products to go on sale as well and buy in bulk!

My most embarrassing deodorant story is that — I never use deodorants. :D

Fortunately, it takes A LOT for me to start stinking. But the funny things is, my hair and scalp can’t keep smelling nice. It’s not that my head stinks but it easily goes back to that fresh-from-bed smell a few hours after showering. So I had a theory — that whatever BO I didn’t get in my underarms, I got probably 1/8 of it on my head instead. :p

  32. Great points, Amber! I always say too, better to pay a little more now for safe deodorant, than a lot later on for diseases you could have prevented!

  33. Sharon Paradiso says:

Thanks for all the the info on this topic! I have been trying all kinds of store deodorant since Degree stopped working, then everything else from Dove to Secret. I too am working to make swaps to natural based products where it makes sense so am going to give this area a go. From reading the RP ingredient list and comparing to Bubble and Bee, I am not a fan of lavender and sandalwood scent so went with BB. Also got lured in by the shampoo so we’ll see about making another product switch eh?

  34. Hi Sharon,

I am so glad you’re transitioning to natural deodorant! Just to let you know (which I completely forgot to mention in the post), the RP deodorant has almost no scent, which is hard to believe considering the essential oil ingredients, so it’s a really good choice if you don’t want your deodorant to have a strong scent. Just something to keep in mind in case you decide you want to try it! :) Let me know how you like the shampoo…haven’t tried it yet!

  35. Since we’ve been tweeting a little today I followed your link back here, and figured I’d comment and offer that Blissoma makes a baking soda and organic cucumber juice based deodorant spray. http://www.iriestar.com/natural_deodorant_mist.html It is a big fave of Brandie over at Organic Beauty Talk and she uses it in combination with Soapwalla. I use it alone, and developed it because the store deodorants or anything based solely on essential oils did not work for me at all. By noon I was stinky without fail. And I can’t go without deodorant – not one of the lucky people like that! Because it is liquid and spray based of course there are no powders or wetness absorbers in it. Our baking soda recipe is very effective though, and doesn’t discolor underarms like some of the stronger body powders or straight baking soda can. You can also carry with you and touch up during the day, which is really nice as you don’t need to touch your armpits like with a cream or putty – just spritz. We probably wouldn’t be the solution for the international folks, as we only ship internationally by USPS Priority Mail International which is between $19.95 to $30 per package. But for domestic we are sold through Abe’s Market (another Toxic Beauty Fave) and they offer free shipping a lot, and as well we offer free shipping domestically for returning customers if you request the code from us for your return order. So there’s lots of options here in the USA for delivery. Here’s to smelling good and being healthy! :)

  36. Hi Robin,

Thank you so much for this post, because I had the same issues like you:)

So the story is kinda the same, although I used the Aubrey E Plus High C Natural Roll-On Deodorant.

I smelled like sweat. No joke. I could smell it, so I was like omg, people will die around me if they come close enough.

And what was even worse, I was sweating like crazy and I could see the sweat mark on my shirt. So embarrasing…

I did a product review on my blog if you want to read about my experience, because it’s not just this what I didn’t really like in that deodorant…

Hi Robin! Have you ever tried Soapwalla or Pit Potion? They are the best I’ve tried so far and like you, I’ve tried many – except Real Purity…still need to try it :) We had the same issue with B&B’s – good at first, then things turned stinky.

Interestingly, when I eat really, really cleanly (no sugar, refined food, dairy, refined flour, processed food, alcohol,…etc) and increase my fresh fruit and vegetable content and healthy oils, nuts, etc. – for a good amount of time (more than 4-5 months), a surprising benefit is that my under arm odor disappears completely! I was so shocked. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve eaten that way exclusively, but I wanted to mention that I think what is happening with our under arm odor is indicative of what is going on inside our body.

Good post – conscious consumers seem to be on a never-ending hunt for a good, clean deo that will work for them!

Does Aubrey have actually 100% organic or natural products?

On their site they don’t provide the full ingredient list grrr.

As you saw it on my blog they put 4 ingredients in that deodorant that I hate, but you will never know about it until you get the product :S

  40. Yes, they do have 100% natural and organic products. Aubrey himself was one of the pioneers in the organic cosmetic industry! That’s why the bad ingredients in the deodorant you tried surprised me. I checked their website and saw full ingredient listings. I’m not sure which site you purchased it off of, but on their original site, they usually list the top ingredients and their functions, then below, they have the full ingredients…

  41. Hi S.,

No, I’ve never tried Soapwella or Pit Potion. Now that I’ve found Real Purity, after trying so many brands, I will probably stick to it, although I am open to giving the brands you mentioned a try. Great point on how what you ingest affects the “odors” (or lack of odors) you emit! Things going on outside the body is definitely a reflection of what’s occurring inside!

    -Robin

  42. I have a feeling we checked the same site:)

I checked their original site (Aubreyorganics.com) again and I found there the ingredient list of my deodorant: (that is what I was talking about- it’s not the same what I have)

INGREDIENTS INCI: Aqua, aloe barbadensis leaf juice*, alcohol denat. (38b, lavender*), glycerin, citrus grandis (grapefruit) extract, ascorbic acid, cetyl alcohol, glycine soja (soybean) oil, calamine, tocopheryl acetate, fragrance+, glyceryl linoleate, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, rosa damascena flower water, calendula officinalis flower extract, glyceryl linolenate, tocopherol, arnica montana flower extract, beta-carotene, daucus carota sativa (carrot) root extract.

    BUT….

Compare the following ingredient list (this is what’s on my deodorant -same product) with the previous one:

Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis (aloe) leaf juice*, alcohol denat. (38b, lavender*), cetyl alcohol, glycine soja (Soybean oil), calamine, tocopheryl acetate, glycerin, calendula officinalis flower extract, glyceryl linoleate, glyceryl linolenate, anthemis nobilis (chamomile oil), arnica montana flower extract, rosa damascena flower water, santalum album (sandalwood) oil, abies sibirica leaf oil, jasminum officinale (jasmine) oil, juniperus virginiana (cedarwood) oil, pogostemon cablin (patchouli) oil, rosa damascena (rose) oil, vanilla planifolia (vanilla) oil, citrus grandis (grapefruit) seed extract, hamamaelis virginiana (witch hazel) water, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, daucus carota sativa (carrot) root extract

As you see it’s more detailed and the orders of the ingredients are different:
-Mine doesn’t say “Tocopherol”, so it looks like mine doesn’t have it,
-On the site they say “Fragnance+”, mine doesn’t say that
-I have 8 ingridients in plus that I don’t see among the ingredients on their site (Chamomile oil, Sandalwood oil, abies sibirica leaf oil, jasminum officinale, cedarwood oil, patchuli oil, rosa damascena oil, vanilla oil) – I guess these are the “Frangnance

    So it’s interesting:)

  43. Dina,

Wow! This is really disturbing! Have you thought about taking this straight to the top and inquiring of Aubrey Organics why their online ingredient listing doesn’t match their actual ingredients?

    -Robin

  44. Hey Robin,

Well all what I know is in the US, companies don’t have to provide all of their ingredients, because the US standards are not very strict.
In Canada this is actually better, but the top is the Europiean Union.
So I think they are allowed to do this different ingredient list, but I don’t agree with this at all and I find it misleading, no matter what…

  46. Aubrey Stage says:

Amazing to know that many of them are switching over to natural deodorants. Lemon is good in so many ways especially for its anti-bacterial properties.
After seeing the post here. I remember a friend of mine who said she tired a new deodorant named HP and was very satisfied with it.
I shall try one too and come back with my feedback.

  47. Bureau Caleb says:

I am using Dr Organic Aloe Vera which is very good and all natural deodorant. It’s free from aluminium, chemicals and alcohol so shouldn’t irritate your skin – even if you’re sensitive. Within an hour of being at work I felt myself getting sweaty. By the end of the day even my boyfriend said I didn’t smell like my normal self. You should try this one.

  48. Hi Bureau Caleb,

Thanks for the recommendation! I will check it out…but don’t know if any brand can turn me away from Real Purity! :-)

  49. Cheryl says:

Why does Real Purity Deordorant have sulfate, sodium, chloride and carbonate in it. Does this benefit our health in some way?

  50. Hi Cheryl,

After doing some research and an inquiry to Real Purity, I’ve determined that these ingredients are minerals and assist in keeping the underarms dry. They are not harmful. Hope this answered your question and if it didn’t feel free to contact Real Purity. Thanks.

    -Robin
