The Essence of Miessence

Posted by: | Comments (2)
Year: 1985
Setting: bathroom
Who: Robin, aged 9
Materials: powder, lotion, water
Procedure: Mix equal amounts powder, lotion, and water in a large bowl until it reaches a creamy consistency. Pour carefully into an empty bottle. Go show Mom and have her put some on.
Result: Feeling like an amateur chemist and beauty junkie in the making!

No, this was not an episode of the Twilight Zone, folks….it’s a true story from my childhood. I always loved cosmetics and I liked to experiment with them and make weird concoctions. I didn’t really know what the results would be, and the good part about it was that my mom didn’t get mad at me for wasting stuff! I guess I just liked mixing things and I always used what I mixed, even though it might look a little gross. Back then, little did I know that I would end up an organic beauty advocate who loves trying new products! Where did my next product review lead me? To a place down under…

Not many people know about Aubrey Organics . I’ve loved Aubrey Organics products for a while now, in fact if you go into my bathroom you will see many green and white bottles (green and white are Aubrey’s trademark colors.) No matter how many different organic skin care lines I try (and being a blogger, I get to try a lot!) I always go back to Aubrey.

I was talking to an older friend of mine recently who was just frustrated with her commercial skin care products. She complained of irritation, and dull, dry skin. I suggested Aubrey Organics and being the Aubrey expert that I am, knew exactly which formulation would suit her best.  She purchased it and within a few weeks, saw an amazing improvement in her skin. She even began getting complements on how her skin looked. I work with her and passing her in the hall at school, I even noticed her glowing skin! Listen to what she had to say about Aubrey Organics:

“Thank you Robin for recommending the wonderful moisturizing cream, Aubrey Organics Rosa Mosqueta, for my dry skin.  I’ve had such a problem with other products, but this organic cream is the best! My skin showed signs of replenished moisture right away and when I started receiving compliments on how beautiful my skin looked, I knew I owed it all to you and your Aubrey Organics.I look forward to ordering other products from this line soon as they are so affordable compared to other organic products.  Thanks again and I’ll be telling my friends.”

Blessings,
Suzanne

I was excited to try Bioethique certified organic skin care products. They are the first and only skin care line in North America to be certified
by Nature et Progrès, Europeʼs strictest and most rigorous organic certification agency. In case you hadn’t noticed, Europe is more strict that the U.S. when it comes to the safety of beauty and skin care products. They have already banned nearly 1200 toxic substances, many of which are still in use in the U.S. This is why you must take care when selecting products.

Bioethique products are made in Provence, France under the strictest guidelines. All Bioéthique products are Third Party Certified Organic, utilize a minimum of 95% Certified Organic ingredients and 100% of botanical ingredients are certified organic. I used the Bioethique skin care line and one product in their hair care line for a period of 1 month. I usually like to use products for at least that long so I can truly see how it works over a longer period of time than say, a few days.

Bioethique Antioxidant Serum was the first product I tried. At first, I used alone it at night after cleansing. My face felt very dry! Then I had an epiphany! I applied the serum followed by the Night Cream and my skin felt much more hydrated. My skin also felt extremely soft and smooth. However, if you have normal to oily skin, the Serum might work well on its own. It’s lightweight and a little goes a long way so a small bottle may last you quite a while. The scent is a bit strong until you get used to it. The serum is loaded with beneficial ingredients including essential oils and that is what I was smelling. After a while, I started to like the fragrance. After using the serum for a few days, I began to feel a slight tightening sensation after applying it. This is exactly what it’s supposed to do. The serum promotes more youthful skin by regenerating cells and protects the skin against further environmental damage. If you like, you can even use it day and night with your moisturizer for added benefits. Here are some of the features:

Protects against and corrects skin oxidation and free-radicals.
•Tones and soothes irritated skin.
•Nourishes outer epidermis.
•Reduces aging process and UV damage.
•Moisturizes and regenerates skin.

The ingredients of the serum are:

Mountain spring water of Haute Provence, certified organic melissa extract, certified organic extra virgin sunflower oil, certified organic extra virgin olive oil, europaea-stearyl-ester*, certified organic extra virgin borage oil, certified organic ylang ylang essential oil.
*Organic source

The melissa extract is for toning skin and I definitely felt this happening! So if you are starting to see some signs of aging, I would highly recommend this serum for you. However, if you do not like a strong scent, I would make another choice.

Bioethique 300x292 Product Review: Bioethique Organics

Bioethique makes a Night and a Day Cream which are not as strong smelling as the serum. In fact, they smell delightful and fresh. The Day Cream left my skin moisturized and ready for makeup application. It’s rich in minerals, vitamins, and trace elements, making it a super food for skin. Check out the safe ingredients:

Mountain spring water of Haute Provence, certified organic immortelle extract, certified organic lavender extract, certified organic extra virgin sunflower oil, europaea-stearyl-ester*, certified organic extra virgin olive oil, certified organic rose geranium essential oil.
*Organic source

The Night Cream worked wonderfully especially when paired with the serum. It firms and tightens skin while reducing wrinkles.

I also used the Bioethique Eye Cream and immediately noticed it working to tighten, firm, and reduce the puffiness I sometimes get when I don’t have enough sleep. I also loved that I could just use a drop to apply to the delicate eye area. A little sample vial lasted me a long time!

My favorite product by far was the Hair Conditioning Mist. You can use it in the shower and then rinse or as an after shower leave in conditioner. I used it as the latter. My hair was easy to comb through and was soft and manageable without feeling weighted down.  It can even be used on dry hair to refresh and condition. If you have a problem with dry, frizzy hair, this may be the miracle product for you.

Ingredients:
Mountain spring water of Haute Provence, European Pine Extract, Extra Virgin Sunflower Oil, Europaea-stearyl-ester, Extra Virgin Olive oil, Mallow Extract, Rosemary Extract, Lemon Grass Essential Oil, Rose Geranium Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil.

Do you notice something about the ingredients so far? Organic extracts, first cold-pressed oils, and spring water meld together to bring you safe, non-synthetic skin, body, and hair care products. You will find no artificial fragrances, colors, waxes, parabens, or petroleum in Bioethique products. Overall, I was pleased with the results and performance of Bioethique products. The products I reviewed are priced in the $36-$68 range. Whoa…you might be saying. Think about this: When you purchase Bioethique you know you are getting the absolute highest quality organic ingredients, and we all know you get what you pay for! The product will last you a long time too since a little bit goes a long way.  Also, if you want to just try the products out before buying full size, you can get a sample set for under $10! Any questions about Bioethique? Please feel free to visit Bioethique online.

Disclaimer: I received  Bioethique products gratis, however, I was not paid for this review. This review consists of my honest experiences when using Bioethique products.
