dry skin combo110 170 Powerful Anti Aging with Rosa Mosqueta

Save money by purchasing a skin care set.

By now, you all know how much I ♥ Aubrey Organics products. I love how they create skin care systems and products designed for different skin and hair types too. I like to coordinate my products and use all the same items from one product line.  After 30, I decided it was time to be on the offensive and start anti-aging activities.  I found out about Rosa Mosqueta after researching which natural ingredients were best for anti-aging. Rosa mosqueta originates from rosa mosqueta oil and is a powerful anti-oxidant, providing Essential Fatty Acids and promoting youthful skin. It also has amazing skin regenerating properties and can reverse sun damage! I started using Aubrey’s Rosa Mosqueta Moisturizing Cream for the daytime. It absorbs easily, makes a great base for under make-up, and moisturizes and hydrates the skin all day. To make it even better, all the ingredients are identifiable and contains no chemicals. I was so pleased with the daytime moisturizing cream that I decided to expand to the night cream.

The Rosa Mosqueta Night Cream is a bit thicker and when applied, makes the skin shiny and glowing. That  is not really a problem though as you apply before bedtime and the cream works it’s magic as you sleep. It’s ultra-moisturizing and restores softness to dry skin. Like the day cream it contains powerful antioxidants, liposomes, and alpha lipoic acid, which in combination helps smooth fine lines, wrinkles, and leaves the skin looking radiant. After using this cream for some time, I am so satisfied with the results and you will be too!

I was delighted to find out that Aubrey uses this fantastic ingredient in it’s hair care products as well. Rosa Mosqueta Nourishing Shampoo is especially for color treated hair but can be used on all hair types. It boasts that it can remove harsh chlorine, which your hair absorbs through the water if you are not using a shower filter (click here for more on shower filters.) It also leaves your hair soft and manageable and the scent is quite pleasant (rosy!) as you shower.  Rosa Mosqueta Nourishing Conditioner contains many healthy essential oils designed to condition, untangle, and fortify for healthy hair. This line starts at $7.98 and up for an individual product and ranges in price. You can get the skin care at a discounted rate if you purchase a set.

When used in tandem, all these products do exactly what they claim to do in a safe way. Aubrey does not use any harsh chemicals. They preserve their products with citrus seed extract and vitamins. Using Aubrey products gives you peace of mind in that you know your body will not be harmed. Aubrey products are organic, safe, and effective. Visit Aubrey Organics to discover them for yourself and find the product lines that match your needs. I know you will be satisfied! If you have any questions about the Aubrey line (or anything at all) please drop me a line through the comments or contact page.

Do you use any Aubrey products? If so, which line and product works best for you? If not, which product would you like to try? I would love to know.

nail polish heart
When you walk into the nail shop, you’re looking forward to a relaxing spa experience. Instead, your nose is probably assailed with chemical odors. What are you smelling? It is not a natural smell….it’s a myriad of chemicals: the powder used for acrylic nails, nail polish remover, and nail polish to name a few. If it smells this bad, can you imagine what it can do to your body? Some of the most toxic chemicals you will encounter at the nail shop is toulene, formaldehyde, or DBP. You may be saying to yourself, what are these and why should I be afraid of them??

Out of those three ingredients, the one you might have already heard of is formaldehyde. Yes, that is the same substance used in the preservation of dead bodies. Formaldehyde is not something you should be using while alive, as it is a carcinogen. And this is the same ingredient in your nail products. Toxins, anyone? It is mainly used to make the polish resilient. Toulene is another chemical used in polishes to make it easy to apply and fast drying. It is a toxin that is easily absorbed through the skin, found in paints and explosives. It can cause a myriad of problems. DBP is dibutyl phthalate, has been found to interfere with birth development and is sometimes not even on the ingredient list!

So when I go to the nail shop or go to purchase nail polish (because let’s face it, most of us do not want to give up our pedi’s and mani’s) I look for this on the label: formaldehye/toulene/DBP free. It’s not too difficult to find, in fact, I recently caught up with one of my favorite blogs, The Organic Beauty Expert and I was delighted to read about a new nail polish (NP2 Nail Perfection) which does not contain any of these chemicals. I went on to read more and went to the site to check out the new polish. Guess how much? $22.50 a bottle. Now, this is a pretty cool product in that it is a two-sided bottle that comes with a supposedly chip resistant express dry top coat. But for some of us on a budget this might not be the best option. To check out this post, click here: The Organic Beauty Expert.

Enter… Walgreens. Yes, Walgreens! I was shopping one day and found they carried Sinful Colors Professional Nail Color, a very affordable (under $5 a bottle) and safe brand of nail polish. And the colors are truly sinful! If you’re like me, you’’ll probably want one of every color. And the best part is, their formulas are formaldehyde, toulene, and DBP-free. You can also find them at sinfulcolors.com. So when you’re at the salon or the store, check out the ingredient list before you buy and make a safe choice when it comes to your nail products. Until next time, stay natural, stay beautiful…Robin.

Health Glo Foundation by Real Purity
And now…as promised…introducing Health Glo Foundation by Real Purity. This is a foundation I found after browsing at one of my favorite online stores, Pure Body Solutions. This online natural beauty store refuses to sell any product which does not meet their high standards for integrity in ingredients. One of their best-selling lines is Real Purity. One of the great things about Real Purity is that they don’t spend a lot of money on advertising and fancy packaging. So you know that all of their money goes into researching the best and safest ingredients for their products.

I decided to try the foundation because after going organic, I found it hard to find a truly pure liquid foundation which provided enough coverage but wasn’t too thick and cakey. When I first tried Health Glo, I was in heaven! At last I found a natural foundation that was blendable, light, provided good coverage and had ingredients I could identify and pronounce! This miracle make-up boasts 5 simple ingredients: distilled water, vegetable glycerin, kaolin clay, rice bran oil, and iron oxides. Have you ever looked at the ingredient list on your foundation? Probably many different unidentifiable words (a.k.a. manmade synthetic chemicals.) When you use this foundation, you can feel good about it because you know you are using a safe yet effective product. It truly does make your skin glow! I either use a makeup brush to apply or use my fingers. You can leave as is, or dust a light coating of mineral powder over it. It’s available in eight versatile shades and sells for $23.95 (worth every penny, believe me!) It comes in a 1.5 oz pump and can last you for months, depending on how often you use it. I tend to save it for those special occasions. So if you want dewey, glowy skin, I highly recommend Health Glo Foundation by Real Purity. Until next time, stay natural, stay beautiful…Robin

The gradual path to organic living

eyeshadow 22 300x158 The gradual path to organic living

The organic path does not have to be rushed. A lot of people become overwhelmed with everything they have to buy to start going organic. Like I have said before, it’s a process. You have to take it step by step. Prioritize what is most important to you and start there first. This goes for me too. Up until recently, I was still using eye shadow I bought at the discount store. For the most part, you can either use up or throw out what you currently use. In this case, I loved this color so much, I didn’t want to throw it out. Well I ran out, went back to the store and was able to see the ingredients on the package. I was horrified. One of the top ingredients was talc, a substance I stay far away from. Talc has been shown to cause cancer, especially in women as women use make-up and products containing talc more often.

So instead of walking away empty-handed, this discount store provided me with another option. Some mainstream makeup brands are starting to see the light and come out with all natural versions. I was able to purchase Almay pure blends, a new line which is hypoallergenic and 98.2% natural. It contains fruit and flower extracts and no parabens (which mimic hormones in the body) or talc! They make eye shadows, blush, lipgloss, powder, and foundation. If you can’t find the time to get to the natural grocery to buy your cosmetics or wait for it to come in the mail, this is a great way to get what you need in a safe, eco-friendly product. By the way, I purchased the eyeshadow in ivory, a great every day color for $6.44!
