Product Review: Lanikai Bath and Body

Lanikai Beach: Paradise on Earth

Remember the first trip you took as a kid? Chances are, it was Disney World or Disney Land. What kid doesn’t dream of this magical place? I was no different. I was 5 years old when my parents decided I was old enough to appreciate it. I don’t remember much about the trip, other than “It’s a Small World” repeating over and over and over, being afraid of the Big Bad Wolf  and my mom having to hold me!

Since that trip, I’ve loved to travel. Even though sometimes coming home is the best part, I still adore exploring new places. One place on my “dream board” for a future vacation is Hawaii. I’ve seen movies, documentaries, and read books about this tropical paradise. True, I live in a semi-tropical paradise but there’s just something special about Hawaii. Doesn’t the name alone just send waves of peace and relaxation through you? I’ll go there one day soon, but until then I’ll just visualize myself lounging on the white sandy beach, drinking my favorite cocktail, a Pina Colada. I’ll also have a pink hibiscus blossom in my hair…sigh…

Almond Oil for Skin

If you want to visit Hawaii someday or have already been there and want more, there is a way to experience a bit of this serene setting in your daily life, even if you live in a place far away from the islands. Lanikai Bath and Body was born on the island of Oahu, home to Lanikai Beach, an aquamarine paradise. Check out the picture and tell me you wouldn’t give your eye tooth for a little chill time on that beach! Hawaii is well known for it’s healthy, antioxidant rich tropical fruits such as mango and coconut. Lanikai B&B has tapped into these bountiful gifts to bring luxurious creations such as moisturizers, scrubs, and soaps handmade with 100% natural Hawaiian ingredients. In addition, the products are paraben free and contain healing plant and essential oils your skin and nose will love. And the products aren’t just for ladies, they also make potions for men, babies, and doggies! Who said man’s best friend doesn’t deserve some pampering? Some of my favorite beauty products are ones made from fruit and I had the opportunity to try out two of the best loved products by Lanikai. Read on for my honest review…

Mango Coconut Body Butter

If the name alone doesn’t have you drooling, than the actual product will! I have just a few words to describe this delectable body treat:

Creamy
Moisturizing
Rich
Soothing
Whippy (is that a word?)

Needless to say, I loved this body butter (I also just love the words “body butter!”) The scent is refreshing and uplifting yet subtle and originates from botanicals instead of man made materials. It has just the right blend of butters, oils, and fruit extracts, including almond oil, one of my favorite nut oils for skin. The natural ingredients originate from Hawaii and include (to name a few):

  • organic sea kelp
  • pineapple
  • papaya
  • macadamia nut
  • jojoba oil
  • avocado
  • cacao butter

The Lanikai Bath and Body Store

I used this nourishing cream after showers and it also helped to soothe my sunburned skin. The minute you open the jar, the delicate scent refreshes you. This non-greasy moisturizer melts into skin and absorbs instantly. It’s available in eight delectable scents. The next one I want to try is the Orchid Vanilla. It comes in a 7 oz. container, which is pretty large and should last you a while, depending on how much you use.

Hawaiian Healing Salve

I’ve had experience using healing balms (I previously reviewed Sweet Blessed Bee Magic) but I must say this one has an extra “oomph.” What might that something special be? Essential oils are added to the mix to soothe not only the skin but the senses as well. It’s designed for healing dry, irritated, or rough skin. The natural Hawaiian ingredients include:

  • organic sunflower oil
  • shea butter
  • coconut oil
  • lavender and rosemary essential oil

I recently overdid it in the sun! I promise I don’t do this all the time…it just seems like I do! I rubbed some of this salve on a few spots which were red and irritated and it helped my dried out skin heal. I also found it helpful for my feet, especially the heels…many people have dry, cracked heels from wearing the wrong type of shoes and not moisturizing our feet enough. Rubbing your feet with this balm will help solve that problem. And having someone else rub it in for you will work even better! ;-)

I don’t usually give a rating to the products I review on Toxic Beauty Blog, but this time I will. I give both products two pineapples up! The best part about these products are the artful blend of natural island ingredients working synergistically to improve the health of your skin. It’s also pretty cool to use products handmade in a place you want to visit! If you’ve already been to Hawaii, you already know about it’s healing powers. Why not tap into it a bit by using natural Hawaiian bath and body products?

Lanikai is my favorite beach! I grew up in Hawaii and I’d go there all the time. I love that photo too. I will have to stop in that store the next time I go home to visit.
