20 Beauty Questions- No Holds Barred!

I was on Twitter one day a few weeks ago when I saw this tweet from JennStaz about her post on 40 beauty questions she answered. I thought this would be pretty fun to do for my blog and let you gals get to know me and my beauty habits a little better.

However, 40 questions seems like a lot (do you really want to read that many?) so I cut it down to 20. It’s kind of like when you were younger and had to take a 40 or 50 question test and you were like, “Ooooooh nooooo!” So that’s why you are about to read my honest answers to 20 beauty questions I chose from Jen’s original post.

How many times do you wash your face daily? I wash it only once per day. I think frequent washings can lead to dryness and as I get older, I definitely think I only need to cleanse once a day, which I do at night. In the morning, all I do is spritz my face with the Infotone Face Mist, pat dry, and apply moisturizer.

What type of skin do you have? I used to have oily skin as a teen and it was kind of shocking to me hear from an aesthetician that I had dry skin after my last facial! So now I guess I have normal to dry skin.

What is your current face wash? I’m using this delightful cream facial wash by Amber’s Organics called Balance Beyond. It’s made with all these beneficial oils, aloe vera, and rooibos tea. It leaves my face feeling soft!

Do you exfoliate? Hells yea! I try to exfoliate my face at least twice a week. I’m currently using up the Cosima Facial Scrub I reviewed a while back and forgot I had! For my body, I use my own Dead Sea Salt blend or Amber’s Organics scrub.

What moisturizer do you use? My current favorite is another product from Amber’s Organics- the Calendula Butter Face Cream. This stuff is phenomenal! I use it at night as it has the chance to deeply penetrate as I sleep. In the a.m. I use argan oil.

Do you have freckles? Yes, I have always been very freckly! When I go in the sun, I become even more freckly.

Do you use eye cream? I went so long without using it….ahh the arrogance of youth! When I hit 35, I told myself, “You’d better start using eye cream!” I used to love 100% Pure Coffee Bean eye cream…until I heard reports that their products can be contaminated with staph! Now I use my Keys Soaps Eye Butter or a fabulous eye oil from Amrit Organics.

beauty questions

What foundation do you use? I’m using up my 100% Pure Liquid Foundation right now but I don’t use it that often, so it may take a while. Every day I use my La Bella Donna Compressed Minerals which I got my my fabulous hair stylist Debbie at Capello Salon (by the way, she’s giving anyone who mentions me 10% off on the La Bella Donna line of makeup!) I want to get Vapour Organic Beauty Luminous Foundation soon!

How about concealer? I recently had the chance to try RMS Beauty Un-Cover Up and I am loving it! It’s blendable and moisturizes and I also use it as an eye shadow primer.

What brand of mascara do you use? I am currently in love with Suncoat ($11 on Lucky Vitamin!) I also love my black mascara from No Miss Cosmetics and a German brand I got in my Goodebox called Benecos.

What makeup tools do you use in make up application? Not as many as I probably should. I have one for eyeshadow all over the lid, one I use for highlighting, and of course my blush and foundation brushes. Ecotools all the way!

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade?) Ummm this is a tough one…I have a lot and want even more! I gotta say it’s the Tallahasse Tan I got from No Miss. It’s sooo shimmery and gorgeous! Other than that, my go to shade is taupe or cream colored.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner? Mostly pencil or I wet a brush and line my eyes with mineral shadow, but I did get into using liquid liner recently after I tried No Miss liquid liners (they come in awesome colors!)

What is your favorite lipstick? I am not a lipstick girl. I tend to think they dry the lips out and dried out looking lips look wrinkly! BUT, I do have a favorite one by Lipfacts by Lori. It’s called Almond Cream and it’s a really nice nude shade.

How about lipgloss? I am the #1 lip gloss fiend. I love only nude and pink shades- natural lips all the way! My favorite lip gloss right now is Ferndale Fawn, a shimmery nude color by No Miss. I also got to try Vapour Elixir Lip Plumping Gloss and it’s fabuloso!

What is your favorite blush to use? I ‘m a big fan of Everyday Minerals because you can get a bunch of blush samples and those usually last me a really long time. They are also very affordable. I love this light shimmery pink they have… I can’t find the package so I don’t know what it’s called, but they’re having a sale right now to make room for the 2013 shades, so it’s worth a visit!

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? Uh, yes, you’d know this if you saw my How to Apply Shadow Like a Makeup Artist video. I was lining my eyes with a sparkly black mineral shadow and got it ALL over my face. I tend to rush through putting on my makeup and I need to learn to slow down.

Name a makeup crime that you hate. Wearing colors that don’t suit you. For example, me in red lipstick. Can anyone say Ronald McDonald?

Could you leave the house without any makeup on? Yes, and I’ve done this often as I was very makeup lazy this past summer. But I have been told I look good without makeup too.

What do you think of makeup? I think it’s fabulous only when it’s nontoxic and uses natural ingredients! It’s a great tool that helps women look and feel better about themselves. That being said, I also think we as women should go without makeup for a day or a period of time to understand that we are all naturally beautiful and don’t need makeup to be considered attractive!

I hope you enjoyed this little peek inside my beauty world!

    Hi Dina,

Yes….you should! I’d love to read it! :)

    Hi Elitza,

I actually don’t dye my hair- but I do get highlights that are organic from my local salon (Organic Color Systems.) If you can’t find an organic salon near you, a better choice than conventional are the ones you can get at Whole Foods. But keep in mind that even supposed “organic” hair dye contains unsavory chemicals. You just can’t get away from it. If you have dark hair, you can also use henna….but it’s not for light or blonde hair. Thanks for the question, Elitza!

I’m not a lipstick girl either. I will wear it once in a very blue moon but thats only because i’m trying to get rid of what i have! My daughter likes lipstick so she takes most of mine anyway.

I love lip gloss and either do a nude or slightly tinted lip.

I wash my face twice day. It’s actually recommended because of the dirt/grime that gets onto your skin throughout the day. The mornings are usually a light wash though.
